Podcast: The Nero Okwa Xperience
Just dropped one of my favourite conversations yet on ๐๐ก๐ ๐๐๐ซ๐จ ๐๐ค๐ฐ๐ ๐๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐ข๐๐ง๐๐ podcast with my friend and former colleague Lin Loke, founder of Nuwa wellness brand.
What made this special? We found ourselves finishing each other's thoughts about the realities of leaving corporate to build something meaningful. Both University College London alumni taking completely different paths but learning similar lessons.
Lin: 5 years in infrastructure M&A at Arup, to consulting, and then wellness entrepreneurship
โ Me: Engineering to discovering lean startup methodology to multiple ventures
"Your linear career flashing before your eyes" - that moment you realize you're on someone else's path
The power of picking up the phone (how Lin found her manufacturers)
"Your whole business you are designing for trust" - the foundation of every venture
"Don't call it a business" - once you call it a business, it comes with expectations. Focus on solving problems first
Why work becomes play when it aligns with your values
๐๐ข๐ง'๐ฌ ๐ข๐ง๐ฌ๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ: "A lot of people are scared of starting a business because they feel there's a lot they don't know, but you must commit to calling people and then your unknown unknowns become known knowns."
Find a problem you care about and care deeper."
We both learned: Everyone has business opinions, but very few people actually do business.
